The refinery is scratch built and is highly accurate to the prototype.

Seen here, on the right, is the furnace to heat the crude oil. Behind are the fractionating towers where the different products are separated out.

Tank cars are lined up at the loading dock to receive the refined product.


Storage tanks for crud oil, piped in from tanker ships, are located at the far eastern end of the refinery. Behind you see the viaduct that crosses in front of Joliet Union Station.
