Dominguez Rancho Adobe Museum

The Adobe contacted the Los Angeles Model Railroad Society in 2022 to determine if we could restore their 1910 Los Angeles Airfield diorama. The open-top diorama was installed in the 1970s and had not been cleaned since then. Having expertise in working on small scale, delicate layouts, we agreed to take on the project. Below are before and after photos.

Los Angeles Union Station Train Festival

The Los Angeles Model Railroad Society has participated in the Los Angeles Union Station Train Festival in the past and is seeking to attend the 2023 event. The club brings a model train layout and hosts an infor- mation table to acquaint people with LAMRS.

The Torrance Public Library

For many years the Los Angeles Model Railroad Society has provided the Torrance Library with a display of toy trains during the holiday season.

Rutherford Falls

In the Fall of 2021, PeacockTV contacted the Los Angeles Model Railroad Society to build a small model railroad layout for their streaming program “Rutherford Falls”. We had a little over two weeks to put together a 4’ x 8’ working layout.

The World’s Greatest Hobby Show

The Los Angeles Model Railroad Society has supported this event with a booth where club members inform and educate the public about the hobby of model railroading. The “World’s Greatest Hobby on Tour” is a travelling show promoting the hobby of model railroading. The purpose of the show is to introduce the general public to model railroading in an entertaining, lively and family-friendly atmosphere. The hobby of model railroading brings the family together in activities that teach multiple skills. Model railroad skills include carpentry, electrical engineering, historical research and scenic artistry.

Public Open Houses

In the past, the Los Angeles Model Railroad Society hosted three free open houses. Kids of all ages were allowed to run a train around the layout.

The Lomita Railroad Museum

In previous years during the holiday season, the Los Angeles Model Railroad Society have set up and run a model train layout for the kids in attendance.
